Potted Pines was designed as a way to offer Border residents a stress-free, eco-alternative to the usual fare.

Mr Warren said the trees, which were nurtured year-round, were then collected when the festive season was over. "We have sizes from small to extra large," he said. "The good thing about Potted Pines is it lets families without the waste.

"It's about bringing a fresh perspective to holiday traditions." Mr Warren said after researching different types of trees, "it snowballed from there". "Some of them can last up to 15 years," he said.

"It's a nice option for families or businesses because we do all the heavy lifting, and you get the tree when it's in its prime time and then return it to continue to grow. "We wanted it to be convenient and still joyful." Mr Warren said around 50 trees had been growing in the family backyard for the past 12 months, with more than 100 more planted in recent months.

"Christmas can be a wasteful time of the year," he said. "The trees are both reusable and real, providing an authentic feel while still having the same elements as a fake or cut-down tree." Ms McCann said she loved Christmas, and so did their child.
