Resident groups are said to be frustrated with "crowding" visitors causing "traffic" chaos across the county during high holiday season, according to local reports . It comes from locals of the Portuguese municipality of Sintra in Lisbon, who say that the area "is for everyone and needs everyone".

Community organisation QSintra has this week issued a statement slamming "mass tourism" and it said "enough is enough". Along with a statement saying the area has become a "congested amusement park", a Facebook post showed several photos of houses bearing signs with terms like "Sintra: A traffic jam in paradise". It alleges that the traffic influx has caused a "loss in quality of life" and stated that "the constant traffic jams and the accelerated de-characterisation of this World Heritage area".

The group made a series of demands to local authorities, including replacing mass tourism with "quality tourism". As reported by Birmingham Live, it demanded "protection for the environment, better planning for hotels and buildings", and asked "for permane.
