Pune: The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Friday adjourned till Oct 21 the hearing on the Pune police 's application seeking the 17-year-old driver's trial as an adult in the May 19 Porsche Taycan crash case. Special prosecutor Shishir Hiray , representing the state, and senior lawyer Abad Ponda, appearing for the minor, participated through video conferencing from Mumbai. They both sought an adjournment of the hearing on the police's plea and two other pleas on return of the seized car and the minor's mobile phone.

JJB, after hearing both sides, directed Hiray and Ponda to be physically present and argue the three pleas together on the next date of the hearing. Assistant commissioner of police (crime) Ganesh Ingale and the minor's Pune-based lawyer, Prashant Patil, were present before the board. Two young software engineers were killed after the high-end car driven by the teenager, son of a city-based builder, crashed into their bike in Kalyaninagar.
