A popular Surrey pub will close for a month-long refurbishment that will see new and improved outside seating areas, an extension to the pergola, and a new awning, as well as a refreshed inside bar. This is after plans were submitted to Epsom and Ewell Borough Council that hope to revamp the local’s favourite watering hole. A spokesperson for the Marquis of Granby in Epsom commented: “We are excited to announce a refresh for the Marquis, with a beautiful new look garden to the front with a butterfly awning, new furniture, and lots of planters.

” They continued: “We will be fully enclosing the rear area to provide additional space and making further improvements designed to enhance the traditional features that make the Marquis of Granby a firm favourite.” Mitchells & Butlers - the company behind the Marquis of Granby - confirmed to SurreyLive that the pub will close for a month from the end of September until the end of October. It also advised people to plan ahead and make Christmas booking enquiries ahead of this four-week closure.
