Dalla Tavola Zenari, a longtime staple in downtown Edmonton, will permanently close its doors on December 31 after 40 years in business. The popular Italian restaurant first opened in Manulife Place in 1984. In 2020, the business relocated to the Enbridge Centre, hoping to bring new energy to the business while continuing the family legacy.

However, reopening during the height of Covid-19 posed challenges for the family-run restaurant. “The past four years have been anything but easy, and we’ve fought tooth and nail to keep going,” owners Elisa and Ran wrote in a . “We’ve faced numerous obstacles, from limited access to pandemic support and financial hurdles.

But that’s part of entrepreneurship, and I’m proud of everything we’ve built at Dalla Tavola Zenari.” The restaurant thanked its customers, staff, friends, and family and expressed gratitude for its landlord, who “truly understands the challenges small independent businesses face in these volatile times.” It’s a staple in downtown Edmonton that will be missed, and we’re sorry to see it go.
