A social media influencer has taken the internet by storm after using her own faeces as a face mask . Let's face it, the thought of poo is enough to churn stomachs. It stinks, it looks gross - need I say more? Yet, one content creator Débora Peixoto now insists we've got it all wrong.

In a mind-boggling viral post , she smeared faeces all over her face, claiming it to be the answer to her skin woes. Pinching her nose with a clothes peg to dodge the foul odour, she gave her DIY treatment 10 minutes to work wonders before scrubbing it off. At the end of the video, Débora then looks at the camera, flaunting her 'glowing' skin.

"I saw research about it and decided to try it," she said in an interview afterwards. "It can prevent ageing. It’s the craziest thing I’ve done in my life.

But it’s worked for me and my skin has stopped flaking!" Unsurprisingly, this soon racked up hundreds of baffled comments, with many users slamming her 'hack' as 'diabolical' and 'disgusting'. One person wrote: "There is nothing nutritious in this, this is everything toxic that is left of the food you ingest!!!!!", as others chimed in: "It's gotta be satire for attention," and: "It’s time to leave planet earth." Sure, it may be disgusting, but is Débora on to something? Dr Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic in London, doesn't seem to think so, and warns that it puts users at risk of illness.

"Of all the skincare 'trends', this is one of the strangest I have ever.
