NORMAL — A 15-year-old girl died at a local hospital Thursday morning after experiencing a medical emergency at Normal West High School, authorities said. The girl began experiencing a medical emergency shortly before 10 a.m.

, and a school resource officer assisted staff at the high school with first aid before the Normal Fire Department arrived on scene, according to a joint statement by the Normal Police Department and the McLean County Coroner's Office. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. "We were devastated to learn that a Normal West student passed away today .

.. Our thought are with her family and the entire Normal West community," said a statement issued by Dayna Brown, communications director for McLean County Unit 5.

"We will do whatever we can to support her family, our students and staff members. We will have school counselors, school psychologists, social workers and trained support staff available to meet with students and staff throughout the day." Officer Brad Park, community services officer with NPD, said there is no more information available at this time, but they do not suspect foul play.

The police and coroner's office are continuing to investigate the incident. The First Baptist Church of Bloomington is building a five-acre pollinator habitat that will be opening and dedicated on Aug 24. Will Morgan and Anna Cone practice at band camp for the Normal Marching Band.
