Pune: The Deccan Gymkhana police on Sunday afternoon registered a case of drunk driving against a techie (34) from Hinjewadi after he was found sitting in the driver’s seat of a compact SUV on Karve Road earlier in the morning. “We found the techie in the driver's seat in an inebriated state. The vehicle was parked in front of Veer Savarkar Statue on Karve Road.

There was no one else in the SUV,” said senior inspector Girisha Nimbalkar of Deccan Gymkhana police. “The shirtless techie drove his friend’s SUV and had rammed it into a median or footpath somewhere in the city before reaching Karve Road,” she said. “He could not speak and failed to narrate to the police how he reached Karve Road from Hinjewadi.

We conducted his medical test and then registered a case against him. The preliminary medical report stated that he was in an inebriated condition,’ she said. “After his medical examination, he was allowed to go home," she said.
