‘Pokemon’ voice actor Rachael Lillis | Image: Instagram/@rachaellillis Rachael Lillis, who voiced the popular characters Misty and Jessie in the English versions of the 1990s “Pokémon” anime television series and movies, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, after succumbing to her battle with breast cancer. She was 55.

Her death was confirmed by her sister, Laurie Orr, through GoFundMe , a fundraiser created in May to raise money for the voice actress’ medical bills. “With a heavy heart, I regret to say that Rachael has passed away. She passed peacefully Saturday night, without pain, and for that we are grateful,” wrote Orr in an update on Aug.

12. “She is with God, the angels, and the family that has passed before her, surrounded by infinite love,” added the sister. “We ask for peace, for now, as her family grieves this loss.

” Orr shared that Lillis was “moved” by the response the fundraiser received from supporters and friends. Meanwhile, Lillis’ “Pokémon” co-star Veronica Taylor, who voiced protagonist Ash Ketchum, paid tribute to her late castmate.
