Millennials and Gen Z members are Pokemon’s biggest fans. And these younger generations are becoming the largest group of flyers worldwide. By 2025, just four months away, Statista predicts that 51.
5% of world airline expenditures will be by Millennials, those born from 1981 to 1996. Another 11.5% of airline spending will come from Gen Z, young people born from 1997 to 2012.
Unfortunately, flying hasn’t been much fun these days. Air Nippon Airways (ANA) is trying to change that in an entertaining way aimed squarely at these millions of younger people. Yes, it’s time to prepare for takeoff and disembarkation with Pikachu and friends! As they watch the safety video, Pokémon fans can count and name the characters as they appear.
ANA currently operates two airliners featuring the cute “pocket monsters,” AKA Pokémon. One aircraft is a 246-seat Boeing 787-9, known as Pikachu Jet NH. The other is a 212-seat Boeing 777-300ER, Eevee Jet NH.
