BAY CITY, MI – Everywhere I go these days, I seem to get the same question. “When you gonna retire?” No offense taken. I plan on making these Bay City area high school football predictions for many more years.

After all, at age 57, I’m still a young guy. As I commemorate my 28th work anniversary at The Bay City Times this week, I’m surprised at how many people consider me at retirement age. I don’t get it.

Sure, my glasses are getting thicker and my hair thinner. My hearing is dimming, my memory is fading, my back is aching and that climb to the press box is a bear. I do have two grandchildren, wear elastic-band trousers and have a mysterious and growing affinity for Wheel of Fortune.

I guess I am starting to check a lot of the boxes. But retirement is something my dad did, right? Not something I need to think about. When he called it a career after 30 years at Bay City Chevrolet, I remember thinking “Good for you, old-timer.

” He was 55. So maybe that’s not such a bad question after all. I guess I am kind of looking forward to discount coffee, hitting from the gold tees and a Viking river cruise.

But...

nah! This is too fun. Let’s get picking! I posted an 8-2 record in Spotlight Games last week and was beaten by 11 of the 22 people who shared their picks. Last picker in Brian Phillips was the lone 10-0 entry.

Join the fun and post your predictions on my Facebook page prior to Friday’s kickoff. LEE T’s PICKS Spotlight Games: Week 4: 8-2 (.800) Spotlight.
