A fire broke out near the ticket counter at Pilikula Nature Reserve in the early hours of Wednesday, damaging two electric vehicles. The fire reportedly started while one of the electric vehicles was being charged in the workshop area. Sparks from this vehicle led to flames that ultimately destroyed both it and another nearby electric vehicle.
Fortunately, a major disaster was averted, as there were over ten other buggy electric vehicles parked in the vicinity, which were saved from the flames. Eyewitnesses reported that the Kadri Agni Shamaka Dal, the local fire response team, took approximately half an hour to reach the scene. By that time, staff from Pilikula Nature Reserve had already worked together to manage the flames, which had begun spreading to additional vehicles.
However, despite their efforts, two more electric vehicles suffered partial damage before the fire was fully contained. Officials from the Kavur police station and Mangaluru rural police promptly arrived to assess the situation and have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. Fire safety protocols for vehicle charging areas are likely to be re-evaluated in response to this event.
