Pune: A conman stole bike of a 29-year-old photographer after posing as a buyer from Kadachiwadi in Khed taluka on July 27. The photographer approached the Chakan police and filed a complaint against the unknown person on Sunday. An officer from the Chakan police said the complainant wanted to sell his bike and posted an advertisement on the internet.

On July 24, the complainant received a voice message from an unknown number. The person had wished to buy the complainant's motorcycle. The suspect also requested to share photographs of the motorcycle and the registration certificate with him.

"After the complainant shared the photographs, the suspect called him near the Chakan bus stand on July 27," an officer from the Chakan police said. He said the complainant met the person near the bus stand and they then drove towards a ghat section near Alandi for the trial of the motorcycle. "The suspect then told the complainant that he would drive the motorcycle and requested him to wait.

The complainant became suspicious when the person did not return with the motorcycle. After half an hour, the complainant returned home," the officer said.
