Phillip Schofield has shared his first selfies on social media since his exit from ITV ’s This Morning – and he doesn’t look too happy in one of them. On Sunday evening, the 62-year-old was among the celebrities who tuned in to watch the England men’s football team take on Spain in the final of the Euros. While the English hoped that 2024 would be the year that the men’s side would lift the trophy, it wasn’t meant to be, with España securing a 2-1 victory .

Ahead of the match, Phillip – who’s become more active on social media by sharing pictures of his dog following his departure from This Morning in May last year – posted his first selfie since quitting the programme. He uploaded a picture of himself beaming while wearing white and red face paint, designed to look like England’s St George’s Cross flag. Kate Garraway, Jason Donovan, Richard E Grant and Tracy-Ann Oberman were among those who liked the picture on Instagram, although Phillip’s settings on the social media platform don’t allow comments on his posts.

But then, shortly afterwards, Phillip uploaded another selfie on his profile...

this time looking decidedly less enthusiastic. Posting on his Instagram Story, he shared a photo of himself with his face paint fading, looking extremely disappointed after the Euros final result. He joined scores of other celebrities expressing their heartache, including Jeremy Clarkson, Piers Morgan and Kate Beckinsale .
