Peter Hawkings is set to exit Tom Ford after just one year as creative director. Today, the fashion house announced that the designer would be stepping down from his post, but the company is yet to reveal a successor. "I would like to express my gratitude to Peter for his exceptional contributions to Tom Ford from the very beginning," Guillaume Jesel, president and CEO of Tom Ford and luxury business development, The Estée Lauder Companies, said in a press release today.

Hawkings showed his first collection as creative director in September 2023 after taking on the role from . While the appointment was new, Hawkings had actually been with the company for a long time. In fact, he first joined Ford at Gucci in 1998 and worked closely with the designer, moving with him as he set up his eponymous label.

Hawkings rose up the ranks, and eventually became senior vice president of menswear, before landing the creative director role. Hawkings' two collections for the house very much tapped into the high-octane aesthetic that Tom Ford is so well known for. The autumn/winter 2024 show was all about the "power of a woman" and was inspired by the likes of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and Francoise Hardy.

"I want to thank Peter for his collaboration since Tom Ford Fashion became part of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group," said Lelio Gavazza, CEO of Tom Ford Fashion. "Along with his team, Peter has contributed to this important initial phase of development. I wish him all the best in his next.
