Despite suffering from three broken ribs, Pete Wicks is soldiering on and has no plans to bow out of Strictly Come Dancing. The 36-year-old former TOWIE star sustained the severe injury while participating in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins last year. He filmed the challenging reality show in New Zealand in July 2023, marking his second attempt at the gruelling SAS selection process after a rib-breaking incident forced him to leave the show the previous year.

In 2022, Pete had to withdraw from the competition due to medical reasons after a stunt went wrong. The mishap occurred when he was required to jump from a helicopter into a lake, during which he knocked himself unconscious with his backpack, hit the water at full speed, and ended up face down.
