Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians showed an absolutely merciless teaser for fans at D23 in Anaheim, giving us all a glimpse of our hero on a beach, harpies and Cerberus dog attacks, and the ominous phrase "Last year, I had to stop a war, but that was just the beginning." The Sea of Monsters section of D23 also introduced the cyclops Tyson, who fans will know as Percy Jackson's half-brother thanks to some Poseidon hanky panky with an unnamed nymph. He'll be played by Daniel Diemer who you might recognize from Netflix's The Midnight Club or as cop Scott Bentland from Hulu's Under the Bridge.

He’s shy, awkward and endearing," source material author Rick Riordan told fans via video at this year's SDCC, and gave his seal of approval to the casting. "His enthusiasm and talent bring a whole new dimension to Tyson." It was only in February that Disney+ confirmed that Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be getting a second season , so unsurprisingly the show is only one week into production.

The Sea of Monsters is the second novel in the Riordan series, and centers on events around Camp Half-Blood, but there are another five novels of Jackson japery to be adapted if season 2 can repeat the success of the first season, which premiered to a record-breaking 13.3 millio.
