THEY'RE high street leaders when it comes to affordable wardrobe staples. But have you ever been in a Uniqlo store and wondered where they got their name from? The shop took to TikTok to set the record straight about the name origin, as they explained that it actually came about due to "a typo". "The company is originally called Unique Clothing Warehouse," they wrote over the top of the clip.
"We wanted to register the brand under 'Uniclo'. "But in 1988, the staff in charge of registering, misread C for Q. Read more Shop stories "The name stuck and now we're known globally as UNIQLO!" "Ever wondered how UNIQLO got its name?" they wrote in the caption.
