It’s one of those essential kitchen condiments that we use every day in our cooking, but people are only just realising there’s a mind-blowing way to use your olive oil - and it’s all in the cap. If you regularly use olive oil when cooking at home, you’ll probably have had the odd slip up where you’ve poured too much into your pan. But the issue of over pouring can be prevented by a little-known hack that people are describing as a “game changer”.

A video posted on TikTok demonstrates that you can stop olive oil spillages and better control the pour simply by utilising the lid. When you open a bottle of olive oil you have to remove a ring pull to get the contents out, but instead of throwing this away you should make use of it. The viral bottle hack suggests that instead of discarding the ring tab, you should turn it upside down and reinsert it into the neck of the olive oil bottle.

It means that when you come to pour out your olive oil, the flow is much slower so you can better control the amount of oil you’re adding to your pan, meaning much less wastage when cooking. TikTok user @Oranizedandsimplified4u shared the “game changer” hack on their account to demonstrate how it works, saying it’ll save you “no more pours”.

The hack has garnered high praise from fellow TikTok users, with many taking to the comments to say they had tried i.
