Married couple Jenny and Jeff Pennington founded the spirits business in 2011, with the distillery having been one of Nashville’s longest-operational alcoholic beverage makers. Jeff Pennington says the company’s brands are still being distributed to retail establishments and that Speakeasy Spirits (doing business as Pennington Distilling) is in discussions with potential buyers of the business. Speakeasy Properties LLC owns the property from which Pennington Distilling had operated, having paid $1.
35 million for it in 2016, Metro records note. The address is 900 44th Ave. N.
, with the property located adjacent to the site of Fat Bottom Brewing Co. The Penningtons have no ownership in the real estate. Jenny and Jeff Pennington Speakeasy Properties LLC, managed by local businessman Thomas Bernard, is an investor in Speakeasy Spirits.
Jeff Pennington — the son of local restaurateur Jay Pennington, who owns 12South's Urban Grub and Buttermilk Ranch, plans to develop a site in that district (read here ) and once co-owned Bound’ry, South Street and Local Taco — says the last tour and tasting was given on Sunday, Nov. 3. He says he and Jenny have not determined their next career move.
