Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started a skill and employment survey to identify educated unemployed youths in the city to enrol them under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana (MYKPY), a scheme that was launched by state govt earlier this year. It is the first of its kind initiative by the civic body that aims to create a database of unemployed youths of the city and provide them employment through various govt schemes including MYKPY. Besides, the civic body also has plans to collaborate with private firms for it.
A senior PCMC officer said that the survey was started in collaboration with Lighthouse Communities Foundation on Monday and PCMC teams are collecting details about the educational backgrounds, aspirations, and employment challenges of youths aged between 18 to 40 years under the initiative. Initially, slum areas, low-income communities, and village zones are being surveyed with plans to cover around one lakh households within a period of the next six months and later it will also be expanded for others. "The data collected will be used to guide the creation of targeted skill development programs and employment opportunities that align with the needs of the local population," he said.
State govt provides a stipend of up to Rs10,000 per month via DBT transfer to youths for internships offered under the MYKPY. The internship is offered for a period of six months to those who have completed their education up to HSC, graduation, post-g.
