Pune/Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar/Nagpur: NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday refuted his nephew and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's claim that a meeting of senior leaders of the undivided NCP and BJP was held in the presence of industrialist Gautam Adani in 2019. "Had such a thing happened, you would have seen the (BJP-NCP) govt being formed," Pawar said in an interview with Saam TV, a Marathi news channel. He added, "Since there is no truth in any of the statements (of Ajit Pawar), there is no need to raise questions about it.

" He said that he met some Union ministers and some industrialists after the election and was accompanied by Ajit Pawar, but it was not to discuss govt formation. "It is true that after the election (of 2019) and further developments, I met several Union ministers and industrialists. Ajit Pawar was with me on some occasions to know them," Pawar said.

The NCP (SCP) chief said that he met Shah but his meetings were to discuss issues pertaining to Maharashtra and the agriculture sector. He said, "I met him three to four times. Some time ago, I accompanied a delegation of people from the state to discuss sugar cane-related issues.

I even visited his residence." He said he was an MP and people's issues must be addressed properly. "In such a situation, we need good communication with the decision-makers.

Because I keep good dialogue with them does not mean that some conspiracy is being hatched," he added. On his visit to Adani's residence, Pawar said, .
