Birth: December 9, 1936 Death: September 18, 2024 Patricia Johnson Hall OBITUARY Patricia Johnson Hall, our beloved matriarch and a true Southern lady in all ways, passed away on September 18, 2024. She was a woman of great Christian faith who loved her family with all her might, her church and her little community of Smithfield. Pat was born December 9, 1936 and raised in Surry, VA, the only daughter of Majorie Kincaid and Albert Sydney Johnson.

She attended Surry High School and it was during that time she met this really cute boy from Smithfield who became the true love of her life, Franklin Edward Hall. They were 19 years old when they married on Christmas Day 1955, a union that lasted 69 years. A talented seamstress, Pat also excelled at knitting and crocheting, leaving behind scores of baby blankets, afghans, and scarves her children and grandchildren will cherish forever.

She loved making costumes at the Smithfield Little Theatre in the 1970s. Art and crafting were also her thing and she never met a thrift store or a garage sale she didn’t love. When her husband started his own pallet business in 1979, Pat worked together with Frank in the garage of their family home on Lumar Road.

She was the first bookkeeper for Hallwood Enterprises Inc. and took great pride in their entrepreneurship and the thriving company now located in downtown Smithfield. Pat was devoted to her Trinity United Methodist Church and there weren’t many Sunday mornings that she and Frank couldn�.
