New Britain Night, a celebration of culture, music, and nostalgia that hit all the right notes, was organized by the UPNG ENB Students Association and brought the Cosmopolitan to life in a way that will never be forgotten. Leading into the night, the opener was Cammy Bee, supported by Jay 4, followed by the legendary Tolai rock icon, Wayne Tefatu. Followed by that the legendary Pati Potts Doi, often hailed as the King of Pacific Music, took the stage, delivering a performance that can only be described as mesmerizing.
As the night unfolded, the anticipation in the air was palpable. When Pati Potts Doi finally appeared, the crowd erupted in cheers, their excitement unmatched. It was clear that this wasn’t just another performance, this was a momentous occasion, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many in attendance, including myself, who was witnessing his live show for the very first time.
Pati Potts Doi, accompanied by his own band, flawlessly delivered seven of his greatest hits, including the timeless classics “To Martin” and “Amari Ute.” Each song was a journey back in time, evoking beautiful memories that felt as fresh as the day they were first heard. The performance was nothing short of perfection, with every note and every beat mirroring the exact magic that has made him a legend across the Pacific.
