MUMBAI: The newly opened Mumbai Metro Line 3 , also known as the Aqua Line , faced service disruptions on Wednesday morning due to a technical issue. Passengers reported that the problem was related to the train's door closure system at Sahar Road station around 9.30am.
Passengers reported no updates during the delay, except for announcements apologizing for the inconvenience. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) did not respond to queries regarding the incident. This disruption occurred just three days after the line's opening on Monday, and many commuters expressed frustration, claiming they waited 30-35 minutes for trains during the morning rush hour.
Some passengers noted similar delays on Tuesday, with one user on social media, @rahool26, stating, "No train at BKC for the last 30 minutes. Same thing happened yesterday; the train arrived after a 45-minute wait. No communication on when it will arrive.
" On the opening day, a train was also stalled at Sahar Road station due to the same door closure issue. Passengers complained of a lack of official communication regarding the delays, with one stating, "There were no updates for passengers except an announcement of apologies for the delay." On its first day of full operation, 20,482 passengers used the new Metro corridor, which connects Mumbai's business district at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Aarey Colony and the domestic and international terminals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport ( CSMIA ).
