Spain captured the gold medal in the Olympic men's football tournament on Friday with a thrilling 5-3 victory over France in extra time. Substitute Sergio Camello emerged as the hero by scoring two crucial goals, helping Spain secure their first Olympic men's football title since 1992. The final at Parc des Princes was filled with drama and excitement, as both teams were tied 3-3 at the end of regular time.

France had initially taken the lead through Enzo Millot in the 12th minute. However, Spain quickly responded with Fermin Lopez equalizing in the 18th minute and adding another goal in the 25th minute. Alex Baena extended Spain's lead to 3-1 with a superb free-kick just before the half-hour mark.

France staged a remarkable comeback with Maghnes Akliouche scoring in the 79th minute. A stoppage-time penalty converted by Jean-Philippe Mateta, the tournament's top scorer, sent the match into extra time. "It is something beautiful, but above all, I'm happy for the players, for the way they achieved the win," Spain coach Santi Denia was quoted as saying by Reuters after the match.

"It was an amazing match against a high-level French team. I'm proud also of the model of play we represent." As the match moved into extra time, both teams pushed hard for a winner.

Despite the momentum favoring France, it was Spain's Camello who delivered. He first lobbed the ball over French goalkeeper Restes, restoring Spain's lead. Later, he sealed the victory with a composed finish following a cru.
