The city of love beckons with bargain prices, as flights and hotel rates in Paris have plummeted, making it the ideal time for a spontaneous trip. Despite the buzz of the Olympics in the French capital, Paris remains surprisingly tranquil this summer, prompting hotel owners to slash their prices to enticing lows, some offering rooms from just £39. Bargain flights are up for grabs too, with Ryanair offering deals from Manchester starting at a mere £17, while Vueling has cut prices to £34 for flights from Heathrow to Paris.

Local reports indicate that even the usually bustling Disneyland Paris appears "deserted", and metro trains are unusually quiet during what should be peak hours. Laura Evans-Fisk, head of digital and engagement at Eurochange, had anticipated that the Olympics would send prices soaring. Contrary to expectations, however, Paris has been "quiet", reports the Mirror .

Laura said: "Being a capital city, Paris is obviously never that quiet, and there will of course still be crowds in the areas where the Olympic events are being held. However, if you've been keen to visit for a while, now could actually be the best time to go. "Although some prices have increased, such as Metro tickets which have doubled in price, with a book of 10 increasing from €16.

90 to €32, visitors can certainly make huge savings on their flight and hotel." Airlines such as Delta and the group owning Air France have signalled a shortage in demand for flights to Paris, with industry lea.
