SIBU (Sept 18): Pansar Bhd commemorated Malaysia Day 2024 with successful planting of 800 trees of various local species at Batu Kawah Riverbank Park in Kuching. The programme involved 120 staff members and their families from all over Sarawak.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai officiated at the event, which was fully supported by the council and Pacific Insurance Bhd. “Planting trees plays a crucial role in improving our local environment. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, contributing to cleaner air, reducing carbon emissions and making our surroundings more sustainable.

“The trees we plant today will be a lasting gift to future generations, providing shade and helping to maintain ecological balance for years to come. “Last but not least, this tree-planting programme is not just a symbolic gesture; it represents a tangible step towards creating a greener future and is a global effort to combat climate change and protect our environment,” said Tan. In his remarks, Pansar’s Sustainability Working Group head cum Pansar Staff Club president Raymond Ngu hailed the tree-planting programme as being aligned with the group’s ongoing commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.

“This is not just about planting tree; it is about nurturing a greener and more sustainable world. Malaysia Day is a perfect occasion to reflect on our nation.
