Vadodara: Panchmahal police registered offences against 75 persons for violating the district collector 's notification which makes the registration of tenants compulsory. District police initiated a drive to ensure that tenants are registered at the concerned police station. The drive began earlier this week and police checked 510 houses as part of it.

It was discovered that house owners had not provided the details of 75 tenants to police. Offences were registered against the owners for violating the collector's notification. The drive to check rented houses has been begun by various district and city police units in the state after directives were issued from the DGP's office.

It is expected to continue in the coming days. According to sources, the most unregistered tenants were found in Halol taluka , where 22 cases were registered. Halol has a significant number of industrial units and attracts migrant workers.

It was followed by Kalol taluka with 17 cases. Kalol also has a substantial number of factories. In Godhra taluka, 12 cases were registered.
