Palace releases statement as Prince William bids farewell to South Africa Prince William successfully wraps the 4th Earthshot Prize Award event in the African continent Prince William wrapped the fourth Earthshot Prize Award ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, on Wednesday, marking the end of his four-day visit. The Prince of Wales, who is expected to depart for the UK from the South African capital on Thursday, November 7th, conducted around 11 engagements during his visits for Earthshot Week. As the future king prepares return home to wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 6, Kensington Palace shared highlights from the star-studded evening.

“So great to see so many brilliant people coming together tonight from across the continent of Africa and around the world to celebrate with us here in Cape Town,” the message read alongside a carousel of photos from the ceremony. The Palace also shared a video clip in which the participants and guests were seen arriving at the green carpet. The video also included the emotional moments from the ceremony as the winners were announced.

It also put a spotlight on the colourful African culture. “What a night! Thank you to everyone who made The @earthshotprize 2024 so special,” the message read alongside the video. “I can’t quite believe we’re here but I’m really pleased, because I’ve been looking forward to an African Earthshot for a long time,” Will.
