Located on Love Lane just outside Liverpool city centre , Quarry opened back in 2020 and quickly became a much-loved community space. The live music venue, which also serves as a recording studio, announced the closure with a "heavy heart" in a statement on Instagram.

However, it also told customers that "this is not the end" for the business which has "set plans in motion to continue in a new site". The venue said: "We wanted to take this opportunity to jump on here and address what is probably not a surprise to many of our regular attendees here at QUARRY, and also put an end to any rumours circulating. "Over the past 12 months, we have been aware of planning permission applied for by Network Rail, in partnership with a third party property developer, to turn the units located on Love Lane into a luxury apartment complex.

This application, along with the sale of the land, has been approved and is set to be completed in January 2025. "The units in question include 17 Love Lane; the current premises of our beloved venue. At present, we are being kept out of the loop of any timelines - however, it is clear that this is something we cannot fight, and it is highly likely that we will have to leave the premises at some stage in early 2025.
