Current offerings in this segment have often fallen short of consumers’ evolving expectations and needs, particularly as new developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G continue to drive innovation, interest and pricing. According to IDC’s worldwide tracker team, consumers are now willing to spend more on devices that can potentially last longer, leading to significant growth potential for the premium segment of smartphones priced over US$600 (estimated RM2,693).
