Deputy John Rosello was investigating a burglary when he responded to a 911 call that involved the suspects.

As he approached two cars on foot and by himself, one car sped off and the other drove toward him. He fired three shots, killing the unarmed passengers in the car: Dhal Apet, 17, and Lueth Mo, 15, both of Syracuse. Deputy Police Chief Matthew Fischer said that when Rosello drew his gun, it led the driver to veer from the deputy.
