Talented hairdresser Tom Boylan has opened his own salon. The 32-year-old has launched The Hair House in High Street, Newcastle , after spending £50,000 refurbishing the former Millets store. Tom, who has worked in the town for 15 years, latterly at Toni & Guy in Ironmarket, decided it was the right time to open his own salon.

He has six staff including two stylists and two colourists. Tom said: "We have a rent a chair system. I have been in the salon industry for 15 years and just decided to go on my own.
