World famous micro artist David A Lindon said he created the microscopic sculpture after being inspired by his favourite animation by Raymond Briggs. The Santa is so small that it fits into the eye of a needle. The 56-year-old spent six weeks working at night to complete the sculpture.
He said he works at night to avoid distractions. David said: “I have often wondered how Santa Claus also know as Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santa, Pere Noel, I could go on. “Just how Santa manages to get down the chimneys undetected in the middle of the night? Perhaps we are a little nearer the answer with my magical microscopic creation.
“Inspired by my favourite 'Father Christmas' animation by Rayond Briggs, I made this micro sculpture inside the eye of a needle. “Measuring less that 1mm it's the same size as a grain of sugar and begs the question; how many of these can you get inside a Christmas cracker! “I enjoyed creating this so much, that I've decided to launch a new Christmas themed artwork every year. “If you are under 16 years of age please suggest ideas for future Christmases through my social media posts.
Each artwork can take months to complete so please get your suggestions in early.” David gained international acclaim in 2021 with his initial release of six microscopic masterpieces. In 2023, he astounded the world by creating the first Wearable Art Gallery; a watch containing three Vincent van Gogh masterpieces, available for purchas.
