A person has died and seven others have been injured after a Tesla cybertruck exploded outside a hotel owned by Donald Trump. The person who died was inside the vehicle, which was outside the president-elect's hotel in Las Vegas, Clark County Fire Department officials and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said. Work is under way to remove the body, officials said, and the FBI is involved in the investigation.

The seven people also affected were nearby and were taken to a hospital for treatment for minor injuries. As yet, officials have not provided a cause and details are sketchy. Jeremy Schwartz, acting FBI Special Agent in Charge for the Las Vegas office, said at the news conference: "I know you have a lot of questions.

We don't have a lot of answers." Eric Trump, Mr Trump's son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, posted about the fire on social media. He praised fire crews and local police "for their swift response and professionalism".
