Prayagraj : Around 80% of 22,872 aspirants appeared for the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment exam on Friday at 69 centres across the district amid tight security arrangements , marking the first day of a five-day exercise. "The exams were conducted in a smooth manner on the first day. Senior police officials remained mobile throughout the day and inspected security arrangements at all centres in both shifts," said DCP (protocol) and nodal officer Ashutosh Dwivedi.

He added that the exam was conducted under CCTV surveillance, as per the directives of the recruitment board, and adequate police forces were deployed at all centres. There were also arrangements for checking and frisking aspirants. “CCTV monitoring of all centres was being carried out through the district control room located at Reserve Police Lines.

Police arrangements were also made at all major bus stands and railway stations,” he said. Aspirants too appreciated the efforts of the state govt to conduct free and fair exams, claiming that they have not faced any inconvenience. As per the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, the exam will be held in two shifts on five days -- Aug 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31.
