The growth has been driven by new routes from both existing and new airline partners, additional frequencies, and increased capacity on existing services. This surge reflects the rising appeal of Oman as a travel destination and its strategic connectivity in the region.

Passenger Growth and Airport Contributions Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport have been central to this positive trend. Salalah Airport, in particular, experienced a significant increase in passenger traffic, spurred by enhanced regional connectivity and a surge in leisure flights from Europe. Both airports saw international travelers dominate their traffic, comprising over 90% of total passengers.

Tourism and Visa-Free Entry Policy The tourism sector continues to play a vital role in Oman’s economic strategy, with a focus on investment and infrastructure development. Oman welcomed record visitor numbers in 2024, driven by efforts to enhance its appeal as a global tourism hub. Projections indicate six million annual visitors by 2030, supported by an estimated $31 billion in tourism investments by 2040.

To facilitate this growth, Oman has introduced a visa-free entry policy for citizens of 103 countries, allowing them to stay for up to 14 days, with options for extensions. This policy underlines the government’s commitment to making Oman .
