Olympics: Hudson-Smith vows to build on 400m silver The Paris 2024 Olympics went out with a bang - an eerie one at that. The closing ceremony kicked off with the dimming of the lights before a figure representing a gold metallic alien descended into Stade de France. This was followed by hundreds of performers dressed in grey ruched outfits performing all types of acrobatics as the choreography attempted to represent a future where life on Earth is reflected upon by visitors from afar.

While it was a grand spectacle, it was fair to say BBC viewers weren't as blown away as they were when London hosted the Olympics back in 2012. One X user @Gallagherlad95 insisted: "Nothing is ever topping the London 2012 one. Apart from Jessie J ruining a Queen classic it was the absolute best #ClosingCeremony," as @slouisew echoed: "This hasn’t got anything on London 2012 #ClosingCeremony.
