Bollywood continues to make remakes of hit classics and Ranveer Singh is now gearing up to play Don for the first time. The upcoming film will be the second remake of the Amitabh Bachchan-led iconic film from the 70s. Back in 2011, Amitabh Bachchan opened up about the remake trend and told Rediff in an interview that he believes original work of art should be left as it is.

A post shared by Excel Entertainment (@excelmovies) When asked if he would consider working on a remake he said, “I haven’t thought about working in any remake or producing a remake. I don’t think Abhishek has thought about it because we both feel that an original should be left an original." Talking about Devdas, he further explained, “So many times when journalists question me on this I say that there was a generation that loved KL Saigal doing Devdas, then we had Dilip saab (Dilip Kumar) doing Devdas — in my eyes that was the ultimate Devdas — but today’s generation feels that Shah Rukh Khan is the correct Devdas.

So with each generation, as you keep remaking that product, you will identify with it." SEE ALSO: Angry Young Men Review: Well Deserving Mini Docuseries About Salim-Javed's Legacy BREAKING: First look of Ranveer Singh on the set of Don 3 pic.twitter.
