A pupil at Rock a Tots in Canford Cliffs Road, “tripped while walking over a bridge” in Compton Acres and fell into the water. The child did not sustain any injuries and was recovered “quickly”, according to the nursery’s director Ray Gerson. Ofsted was notified about the incident that happened on May 24 and carried out statutory checks on the nursery.
Following routine checks, the regulator concluded it was “satisfied the provider has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised”. On the incident, Mr Gerson said: “I can confirm during a walk within the beautiful gardens of Compton Acres there was an accident where a child had tripped whilst walking over a bridge and fell against the wooden spindle, unfortunately this broke allowing the child to fall through into the water. “The child was quickly recovered from the water and didn’t sustain any injury.
“This incident happened on May 24. Compton Acres is a paid entry attraction open to the public which is well maintained. “We have already been pro-active with our parents; they have already attended a meeting to discuss the issue and Ofsted.
“I can confirm all the children are still attending the setting.” Rock A Tots notified Ofsted about the “incident that took place during an outing” on June 3 and within the statutory framework for a “significant event”, according to the report.
