Nadya Suleman, the American woman dubbed 'Octomum' after she gave birth to the first surviving octuplets in 2009, is now a grandmother. Suleman, 49, shared the happy news on Instagram in a post featuring a photo showing a tiny baby foot under a pink blanket. "Thank you my son and my lovely daughter in law for giving us this beautiful gift!" she wrote alongside the photo.

At the time she was already mum to six children – Amerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Caleb, Joshua and Aidan before welcoming her octuplets named Noah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Josiah, Makai, Maliyah and Nariyah, all of whom are now 15. In 2009 Suleman requested all remaining embryos be transferred into her uterus at one time, a departure from standard practice which would typically see three implanted. The doctor's medical license was revoked by the Medical Board of California in 2011. Suleman became a media sensation and the target of negative commentary about her choice. She appeared on Oprah to try and explain her choices.
