Thursday, August 22, 2024 This week marks the commencement of the first phase of construction at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport’s (OAK) Terminal 1. The initiative involves a complete renovation of the Terminal 1 check-in area to enhance the experience for departing travelers. The updated lobby will boast contemporary finishes and improved lighting to create a more inviting atmosphere.

Turner Construction has been appointed as the primary contractor for this project. “We are so pleased to be kicking off this critical renovation of our Terminal 1 check-in lobby to enhance departing passenger experience at OAK,” says Craig Simon , Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We look forward to working collaboratively with Turner Construction to optimize the phasing and minimize disruption throughout the duration of this project.

” The renovation plan at OAK’s Terminal 1 encompasses a comprehensive overhaul of the check-in counters, updating the overhead soffit, enhancing the lighting fixtures, and repainting the ceiling and back walls of the lobby. Airlines utilizing the Terminal 1 check-in facilities include Hawaiian Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Airlines, Spirit Airlines, SATA Azores Airlines, Volaris Airlines/Volaris El Salvador, Sun Country Airlines, Advanced Air, and Viva Aerobus. This project will unfold in several stages, necessitating temporary shifts for airlines to alternate counters while their original locations ar.
