Friday, August 23, 2024 Oakland International Airport (OAK) in the San Francisco Bay Area is preparing for a bustling Labor Day weekend, with more than 200,000 travelers anticipated to pass through its terminals from Thursday, August 29, to Tuesday, September 3. According to airline seat reservations, Friday, August 30, and Monday, September 2, are projected to be the peak travel days, marking the weekend’s highest passenger volumes. “It has been a busy summer travel season at OAK,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon .

“We wish OAK travelers a happy and safe Labor Day and thank them for choosing to Fly the East Bay Way for the holiday weekend.” The airport advises passengers to arrive well in advance—at least two hours before their flight for domestic journeys and at least three hours ahead for international trips. Travelers with some extra time on their hands can enjoy the newly opened dining options in Terminal 1, including Cancún Sabor Mexicano and A16 Pizza, which have recently joined the airport’s range of concessions.

OAK suggests making a parking reservation to guarantee a spot and streamline your travel experience. For a three-day weekend getaway from Friday to Monday, an Economy parking reservation costs just $54, covering all taxes and fees. For longer stays, travelers can enjoy additional savings with Park OAK’s weekday discount, which applies to all reservations beginning between Monday and Thursday.
