Organisers of one of the North East’s best loved running events have issued a challenge to people around the region to follow in the footsteps of a veteran runner. Judith Sadler, from Great Whittington, Northumberland , had decided to take on the 10k challenge to celebrate her 70th birthday - and is recruiting 69 companions to join her. Judith met up with founder, Steve Cram, and the other event partners, ahead of the event to encourage more aspiring athletes to take on the challenge no matter what their ability or race level.

Founded in 2010, by Gateshead -born athlete Steve Cram CBE, the Kielder Marathon weekend, held at Kielder Waterside Park, attracts over 3,500 participants, is dubbed ‘Britain's Most Beautiful’ race. It is organised by Events of the North, in partnership with Northumbrian Water, Northumberland County Council, Bright Northumbria Healthcare charity and Places Leisure.
