The car park at a popular Northumberland beauty spot is set to reopen after almost four months - boasting double the capacity. Northumberland National Park has confirmed that a scheme to upgrade parking options at Hareshaw Linn near Bellingham has now been completed. The site at the popular walking route has been closed since the end of November to allow the work to take place.
The national park initially said it hoped to have the car park reopened by Christma s, but the work has taken significantly longer. No reason has been given for the delay. The existing car park has been reconfigured and had two new electric vehicle charging posts added, with capacity to charge four electric cars.
Furthermore, there is also an additional, entirely new car park with space for 14 vehicles, alongside new bike racks with room for six bikes. Tony Gates, chief executive at Northumberland National Park Authority said: “Hareshaw Linn is a place in Northumberland National Park which is famous for its tranquil beauty, dramatic waterfalls, and rare plant life. "It is a unique and special place where people can connect with nature, and it is wonderful to have this popular visitor attraction ready to welcome more visitors with spring just around the corner.
The enhancements will also mean that residents experience less disruption on busy visitor days. "We are incredibly grateful and thank the local community for their patience throughout the works being carried out.” The work has been funded by .
