While preparing for an ambitious challenge, Swiss swimmer Noam Yaron recently had a significant meeting with HSH Prince Albert, who was vacationing on the Isle of Beauty. The sovereign and the swimmer discussed environmental aspects of Yaron’s sports project, which is supported by organisations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Ramoge Agreement, Pelagos, and Accobams. Their campaign aims to raise awareness among the public, businesses, and policymakers about the environmental challenges facing the Pelagos Sanctuary.
During their conversation, Yaron and Prince Albert addressed potential environmental actions, including imposing speed regulations on cargo and tourist ships in the Pelagos area in order to protect cetaceans, which often fall victim to fatal collisions. Yaron expressed his gratitude for the Prince’s support, noting that it brings significant credibility to their efforts to establish these protective measures. Yaron is set to embark on a record-breaking swim from Corsica at 8:00 on Friday, August 23, covering over 170 kilometres between Calvi and Monaco without leaving the water.
