Actress and singer, Ruby Akubueze, aka Ruu, has said that the successful interpretation of any role is determined by the talent, dedication, and creativity of the actor involved. She told Saturday Beats , “A Russian theatre practitioner, Constantin Stanislavski, once said that, ‘There are no small roles, only small actors’. That means every role, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has the potential to be portrayed in a significant and impactful way by the actor playing it.

It emphasises that the success of a role is not solely determined by its size or screen time but rather by the talent, dedication, and creativity of the actor bringing that role to life. It is about making the most of every opportunity, and giving one’s best performance. “I do not consider myself a small actor, because no matter how minor a role is, I always put as much effort into bringing the character to life as I would if it was a leading role.

Speaking on her music career, she noted that female artistes in Nigeria often faced more challenges on account of their gender. She said, “The belief that female artistes face more challenges in the music industry compared to their male counterparts is a valid concern.

The music industry has mostly been male-dominated, and there have been instances of gender bias, unequal opportunities, and stereotypes that have affected the success and recognit.
