1 2 Prayagraj: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that the sale of meat and liquor will be prohibited within the "traditional boundaries" of Prayagraj (Kumbh and adjoining areas) during the 2025 Maha Kumbh . The announcement was made in the presence of representatives and officials from all 13 Akharas, including the Khak-Chowk, Dandibara, and Acharyabara traditions. The sale of liquor and meat will be prohibited in consideration of the sentiments of the entire Sanatan community, including sadhus, sants, sanyasis, and ascetics.

The CM also emphasised that the Maha Kumbh is organised under the guidance of the flag-bearing Akharas of Sanatan Dharma and various saint traditions, with the state govt acting "as a partner in this sacred event". The seers and saints praised CM Yogi as the flag-bearer of the country's Sanatan tradition . They said he is the first UP CM to engage with the sant community on the Kumbh's management.

The UP CM said that the 2025 Maha Kumbh will showcase Sanatan Indian culture to the entire world, emphasising the govt's commitment to honouring the Sanatan tradition. A short film regarding the management and arrangements of Maha Kumbh 2025 was also presented before the saints. "Every seer, saint, and devotee visiting the Maha Kumbh to take a holy dip in the Sangam – the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati – will witness the pristine and uninterrupted flow of the Ganga and Yamuna," he said.
