Saturday's Colorado College hockey game was only an exhibition, but the 11th-ranked Tigers didn't waste any time in making a first impression. Newcomers introduced themselves to the CC faithful at Ed Robson Arena in stellar fashion with incoming transfer defenseman Ty Gallagher netting two goals and his freshman defensive partner Fisher Scott scoring in a 8-0 beat down of visiting Briercrest College from Saskatchewan. The second period was a stumbling block at times for CC last season, but the Tigers did most of their damage in the middle frame Saturday, scoring five times, four coming from defensemen.

Up 1-0 thanks to a goal from last year's scoring leader Noah Laba in the first period, Scott ignited a scoring spree for the Tigers in the middle frame with a goal at 2:08 of the period. Gallagher netted the team's next two scores. First, on the power play from the point at 5:14 and then he beat visiting goaltender Dominik Tmej with a shot from the slot at 12:49.

Though exhibition scores don't count, Saturday's performance was a joyful one for Gallagher who didn't score a goal for his former Boston University team last year. "It always feels good to see it go in the back of the net," Gallagher said. "It's credit to my teammates as well.

We've been working so hard at that power play and all of our set plays. So just to see that pass, and we've repped it out hundred times over the past five weeks. So seeing it executed, it definitely feels great.
